Today the alarm goes off at 08:00 because we're leaving Miami Beach today and heading back to the airport. No, we're not flying home yet, but we want to be mobile again and rent a car. When we arrive at the car rental, as usual with Alamo, choose a car, the keys are in it. Only in our category, Midsize, there is still a car (Hyundai) there. Unfortunately, our suitcases don't fit well in it. While Marco is still tinkering, Yves already sees the solution rolling in. An employee is just bringing another car, a slightly bigger Nissan. We grab the car right away and behold, the trunk is bigger and everything fits perfectly in it.
A short time later, everything is loaded and we're on our way to Key West. After several shopping stops - we're still looking for a cheap cooler box - we stop at 'Mayor Roscoe Warren Municipal Park' in Homestead. Since we still don't have our cooler box, we decide to make a quick stop at the Florida Keys Outlet. We don't find the cooler box there, but we get stuck in the Nike store and promptly buy a couple of pants and shoes at bargain prices. Fortunately, we only glanced briefly at the Under Armour shop, for now...
Right next door at Wale (Walgreen), we find a temporary solution for the cooler box, more on that tomorrow... On the way, we get caught in a strong thunderstorm and get thoroughly washed, luckily only our car. By the way, we christen the car with the number 'AFR T33' Alfred Freddy Junior.
When we arrive at the entrance of the Keys, it's already after 5:00 PM and we start looking for accommodation because from today on we haven't booked anything. This is harder than expected because either it's fully booked or expensive. We search the internet while parked in a motel parking lot, but don't find anything decent. So, we go back to the motel and with a little charm, we get the room at a cheaper rate that would only apply starting tomorrow :-)
Since we have a kitchen in the room, we cook dinner ourselves and then fall tired into the two single beds.
