Day 16 - Northernmost Arctic Circle

Published: 07.08.2017

Since we spent last night in a place where there was no cell phone reception for miles, we can only upload the photos from yesterday now.

Yesterday was a really beautiful day. We had a relaxed breakfast and then packed up to first drive to the Svartisen Glacier.

This glacier is the second largest on the European mainland. When we arrived at the parking lot, we were visited by thousands of mosquitoes. However, we could hardly see the glacier. The only way to get there was by a small boat, which cost a whopping 40 euros. So we decided to save this money and continue driving. From there, we drove to the northernmost Arctic Circle. It is located in a really barren landscape where there is nothing, except for this tourist attraction.

Our own little tower :)

Nevertheless, it was great to be there. The next stop was our sleeping place, somewhere in the middle of nowhere without any civilization or cell phone reception. The place was located by a lake and it was beautiful there. This peace and quiet did us good.

Once we had set everything up, another German couple arrived and we spent the evening together by a campfire. We decided to take the ferry from Bodø to the Lofoten Islands today.

A beautiful waterfall we discovered on the way.
