An autumn full of highlights 🍁🍂

Hey everyone, 😃

After an eventful summer and a breathtaking trip to Africa, real life has begun again. No, it's not that bad—don't worry. 😉 University is calling, and with it come the new challenges of the semester. But before I go into that in more detail, I'd like to briefly summarize what I've been doing and experiencing over the last 5-6 weeks. 

One of my roommates got a lot of apples from his mother's garden, so the whole group decided to make an apple pie. 

I'm not really a sweet tooth when it comes to food, but this pie was really good. Otherwise, I try to eat healthily and not have too many sweets at home. How about you? 😄

I also helped a roommate move from the second floor to the first floor. As a thank you, I received a purple orchid. I was very happy because it is my favorite flower. 🙈 I received another flower from his friend because I had once jokingly mentioned that his friend should bring me flowers. The roommate's friend did just that. I was completely blown away because I hadn't really meant it seriously, but I was also very happy about it. 😊 From then on, I was more careful about what I said. 🤣

In the second week of October, I got sick. 🤒 My roommates took very good care of me. They brought me tea and made me take a cold bath. 😅

I also wanted to go to a trade fair with my colleagues this coming weekend and didn't know if I would be fit enough to do so. I wasn't quite back to full strength yet, but I'm glad I went along anyway. All kinds of companies were there, including Sony, Canon, Fuji, Allcop, and so on, and there were cool presentations and competitions. Shortly after arriving, I spun the wheel of fortune and immediately won the grand prize. Oops! 😬😂 I won an annual subscription to the online platform Fotocommunity, where amateur and professional photographers can share their pictures, exchange ideas, and develop their skills. The day definitely got off to a good start. The trade fair was a great opportunity for us to get to know lots of new equipment and take a closer look at current trends. We discovered some exciting products that we can well imagine selling in our photo shop.

A week later, it was Lego Day in our community. Lots of children came to build a Lego city and learn about Jesus. ✝️ In addition to building, there were also times of worship and singing. 🎶 Lego Day lasted three days. Unfortunately, I could only help out on one day because my aunt was also visiting.

I was also able to help set up the “AltmühlBeats goes Mallorca” event in the town hall in Gunzenhausen. For my new podcast, which I have to do for my latest focus course “Culture & Lifestyle,” I have to introduce someone who works behind the scenes. I chose a master of event technology who does a lot behind the scenes to make sure an event can take place in the first place. Through the interview and getting a glimpse into his work, I can now understand how much work goes into a single event. I'll take you along with me in my podcast. The podcast is currently still being edited, but if you're interested in listening to it, feel free to contact me in mid-January. 😀

I think this is a good time to talk about my upcoming bachelor's thesis. I'll be honest. It turned out to be a total disaster. 🤯 Our university provided little to no information about bachelor's theses, and I had to look around on my own to find a suitable supervisor. However, I was disappointed to find that the supervisor I had asked for wasn't a good fit because we weren't on the same wavelength. Probably because she is also in a similar, but nevertheless different, degree program. It wasn't entirely clear to me what was expected of me either. 😟😣

I am currently still looking for a professor and am also in talks with one. I already know him from my previous lectures. Originally, I thought I would simply write a scientific paper on “Friendship relationships with generative AI,” but now I am more inclined to divide my bachelor's thesis into a practical part and a theoretical-scientific part. Since I am quite good at creating podcasts, I would now like to make a 30-45 minute podcast 🎙️, which I will use to clarify a research question. I already have an idea for a research question. But before I share it with you, I will wait until it has been approved. The podcast will also be about “friendships with generative AI,” so that my research on this topic so far has not been in vain. I'm also really interested in the topic. If it works out with this professor, then get ready. I'll definitely be coming to you to conduct the field study with you based on my podcast and explore my research question. Wish me luck. 👍🏻 

The following week, it was my birthday. My brother, sister-in-law, niece, a male friend, and a female friend traveled all the way from North Rhine-Westphalia to attend my birthday party. ☺️ In addition to them, I had invited a few people from my church. My roommates were there too, of course, and they helped me a lot with the preparations. There was a cake buffet and dinner. One of my roommates even ordered a cake from his father's bakery. 🙃 Really nice! But I'll plan my next birthday a little differently, with less preparation, so that I have more time to talk to the guests. Then maybe there will only be dinner or just a cake buffet. We'll see! 😊

Another week later, last weekend, my aunt came to visit again for one night. She had been in Namibia visiting my parents. That weekend, I wanted to go to Ludwigsburg with a friend to see the pumpkin exhibition “Blühendes Barock” (Blooming Baroque). See for yourself what the exhibition was like in the pictures in the gallery. It's amazing what you can create. Pure art! The weather could have been better, but oh well. It was still nice. 🤩 

Tonight, it was time to switch to winter tires. I drove to someone in my community to get that done. I am so blessed to have someone who will do that for me. 😇

That means I can get the Christmas decorations out again. 😅 And the hot water bottle, oh no—I already got that out a few weeks ago. Sometimes I'm just a little frostbite. 🥶
