After the exhausting past few days, we took some more time today and started our journey around 9a.m. We drove to the Blue Lake, a lake that was formed by a volcano crater. It was quite cloudy, but warmer than the previous days with 17°C. Unfortunately, due to the lack of sun, we couldn't fully experience the beauty of the lake. It is supposed to have a vibrant turquoise-blue color.
Our journey continued to Mt. Schrank, which we initially couldn't find on our list due to a spelling mistake (Mt. Chrank) :D This is also an old volcano - through a short hike, we were able to get a sense of its full size and depth, as can be seen in the photos.
After that, we stopped at the Carpetenter Rocks and Port MacDonnell. Both were less spectacular. However, Cape Northumberland Lighthouse was beautiful - a stunning reef. It is best to see the pictures for yourself.
During our drive, we passed the town of Nelson, through Hamilton, and finally arrived in Halls Gap - from now on, we were in the state of Victoria. This also affected the time difference, so we were back in the same time zone as Brisbane. Thanks to our good planning, we were able to refuel just before our tank was empty. According to the display, we could have driven for another 50km. It's worth mentioning that in Australia, sometimes there's no gas station for 2 hours - especially when driving through forests and green areas :)
After another hour of driving, and a total of 400km, we finally arrived at our YHA Hostel in Halls Gap. By the way, it was a very modern and beautiful hostel, and luckily we had a 4-bed room all to ourselves ;) So we continued to be spoiled after our motels!
