The Switzerland Cafè, also part of the NC BBQ Trail, was my last stop on the trail, but not my last BBQ restaurant on our tour.
Just a few miles off the Blue Ridge Parkway, it was around 3 PM when we stopped there. Unfortunately, if you arrive after 4 PM, you will find the doors closed.
The restaurant was very busy and had a somewhat touristy vibe. A look at the menu showed that they also offered many seafood dishes. Steffi decided to have a Croissant Burger with smoked trout and a side of cole slaw, while I opted for pork with cole slaw and baked beans.
Steffi was very satisfied with her burger. The fish had a really good taste. I also enjoyed my pork, although it could have had a bit more flavor. The cole slaw was okay, but the beans reminded me more of a processed product and were rather weak.
There was still room for dessert, so Steffi ordered a slice of Pecan Pie and I ordered a slice of Blueberry Pie with ice cream. By the way, all the pies were displayed in a showcase and looked really tempting.
The slices we had not only looked good, they were also very delicious and really moist.
Overall, the Switzerland Cafè was a pleasant stop to have a meal and tasty dessert near the Blue Ridge Parkway. However, compared to the previous BBQ restaurants, it fell a bit short for my taste.
