Lexington Barbecue - Lexington, NC

Published: 14.10.2022

Nr. 4 of 4 was now reached. Suffering a little due to full stomachs, we approached the destination. It was incredible because nearly the entire parking lot was filled with parked cars. Luckily, we were able to find a free spot just in time. Lexington Barbecue used to be part of the BBQ Trails, but they voluntarily withdrew. The restaurant is considered a true institution for Lexington Style BBQ in NC, now in its 3rd generation. They smoke their meats with hickory and oak. The staff was extremely friendly to us and despite the high number of visitors, they had time to chat with us. They serve over 6000 customers weekly. When I asked if I could buy their rub, they replied that it's not possible because they only season with salt. I had never experienced that before, but okay, I was curious. Unfortunately, there was absolutely no room left in my stomach, so I ordered just a pork sandwich, like at the previous stop. Steffi joined back in after her break and ordered a portion of chicken tenders with ranch sauce. What can I say, the meat was incredibly tender, juicy, and flavorful. The slaw went perfectly with it. Now I regretted a bit that I hadn't skipped BBQ Restaurant 3/4. Steffi was also very satisfied with her chicken, which was still very hot and tasted really good. I have to say, Lexington Barbecue is a damn cool place with a great atmosphere. For me, alongside Skylight Inn, it's been the highlight of the tour so far and definitely worth a visit.

We had a conversation with an older customer who turned out to be the artist behind the logo that they have been using for over 40 years.
