We will take bus 155 around noon to the state capital, Erfurt. It is drizzling lightly, but we are well-dressed. We meet our city guide at the Cathedral Square opposite the District Court. The guiding team consists of Ms. Heike Kuban and Mr. Klaus Höselbarth, who divide us into two groups. Both tell us interesting and exciting stories from both earlier and recent times. The tour begins at the Cathedral, which is dedicated to Mary, featuring the largest bell cast on the square, while the church next door is dedicated to Savernus. Through the little alley next to the leaning wall, we reach the Puppet Theater. The dye works next to it used to produce the only blue dyes from plants and urine. The city is also known for its seed production. The smallest house is located in Erfurt; today it serves as a stairway for two houses. Continuing through beautiful Erfurt, the group reaches the Wedding House, where weddings take place every 45 minutes in a total of four wedding rooms. Gossip stones in front of the house doors now serve as decorative entrances. A little further on is the Fish Market, with its beautiful Renaissance buildings in color or gray, depending on the fashion, in view. Printer's ink used to be sold in horns, which is why the printing house is called 'zum Horn.' Here, Adam Ries printed Luther's theses. Students studying in Erfurt who had no money were accommodated in student lodging and received two meals a day. Further on to the Krämerbrücke, which is still a trading place today. Below, the Gera river flows. The Sandman is located right next to it. The stairs to the bridge are between the church and a department store. A narrow alley is home to local goods being sold on both sides, even today. Sesame Street is also available at the sales bridge, just like honey, egg liqueur, books, jewelry, and so on. Now, enjoy a coffee at one of the lovely seating areas outside or inside; it is inviting everywhere at the Wenigmarkt. We return to the campsite by bus. Erfurt is worth another visit; there is still so much to see.
