Shalom - Israel Arrival
07.11.2011 Welcome back. Departed from Berlin in drizzling rain and 20 degrees, early at 5. Got off well in Tegel and headed to Vienna. There, I encountered...

So today it's Acre. A predominantly Arab city, which is very convenient on Shabbat. We visited the citadel and the underground Crusader city, a tunnel, and so on. Did I mention that Acre is beautiful? With its small Arab labyrinthine alleys, a suq (market), and of course falafel. Delicious falafel. Then it took us quite a while to get to the beach, and we also had to pay an entrance fee (2.50€) only to find that there were even more jellyfish here and a strict swimming ban. And according to all the guidebooks, it's not even the best beach in Israel.
But there are plenty of quads, horses, horse-drawn carriages, Jeeps, and jet skis. It was quite chaotic, yet Anne still slept peacefully.
On our way back, just like on our way there, we hitchhiked (there goes my frugality again). But I found it much more relaxing overall. Sure, you're initially with some sketchy characters, but in the end, they turn out to be quite nice, and the bus wouldn't even take us right to the door. Besides, we would have to transfer, it would be freezing cold, and indeed expensive.
The next few days we are doing a round trip to a lake (hopefully this time really without jellyfish), Jerusalem, and the Dead Sea.
