In the morning we could see the Stubai Glacier from the breakfast table with perfect distant view. This increased the anticipation for the Brenner, the lowest passage over the main Alpine ridge at 1,360 m. But our hotel owner warned us: 'narrow, crowded, noisy and dangerous - take the train for 17 minutes and instead cycle into the Gschnitz Valley. That is a nature experience'. We followed the advice and cycled along the river and enjoyed the most beautiful riverside cycle path so far. The 25km descent from the Brenner to Sterzing, unlike the ascent we avoided, is well developed. It goes downhill only on the old railway track through a few tunnels in long beautiful turns. Wow! Sterzing has a pretty old town and today there was a surprise: in the old town 'Unantastbar' played punk rock and opposite our hotel at the cable car valley station we were greeted with live music. Italy - we made it!
