From February 11th to 13th, we were in Cartagena de Indias, the fifth-largest city in Colombia with just over a million inhabitants. The city is surrounded by the Caribbean Sea. The cost of living here is significantly cheaper than in Costa Rica. While the city center is worth seeing, the 'surroundings' are unfortunately less so. The people here can be quite bothersome regarding tourists. At almost every corner, you are approached about various excursions, and every taxi driver asks if you need a taxi, even while you are leisurely strolling down the street. However, the locals are friendly, and we didn’t feel uncomfortable. It can be annoying to be approached every minute.

On Wednesday, we took a trip to THE island of Punta Arenas. Unfortunately, it was a complete rip-off, not only for tourists but also for locals. You are taken to the island by boats, and there are a few bars and restaurants there offering 'super prices'. The sea is indeed Caribbean, but unfortunately littered with trash. Anyone claiming to have seen the most beautiful sea here clearly hasn't traveled much.

Funny enough, on Thursday, an Aida ship anchored, and we were surrounded by many German tourists in the city center.

All in all, it was a nice short trip, but I wouldn't visit the city again!
