The old city center of Aigues Mortes is fully preserved, including the city wall with a surrounding walkway and the 10 city gates, which are still completely intact in their original condition. It was built in the early 16th century and has a length of 1634 m. However, the city seems to be lively only during the season, as we hardly encountered any people during our walk, and the shops and cafes were mostly closed. Since we had already extensively visited the city last year, we soon continued our journey.
Through the Camargue and then 200 km along the Mediterranean Sea to Leucate. Directly by the sea, we found a parking space on a peninsula. Walk along the sea and back through the rather deserted neighborhood. Unfortunately, there were many mosquitoes. :-(
Afterwards, we played a game of boules, which was not particularly successful because the ground was too rocky.
The weather is good, although the sky is cloudy, the temperature is still a pleasant +16 degrees Celsius.
