Les Anses d'Arlet, Martinique (Cruise with the Royal Clipper in the Caribbean)

In the morning, we anchored off Les Anses d'Arlet in Martinique.

Last week, we had gone ashore in the neighboring bay, but this time we tended to the small place with the white church.

For today, we had planned a hike that initially took us through the village and then along a flat road.

Along the way, we saw flowers on a wall, surrounded by several tiny hummingbirds flitting about.

When we arrived at the beach we had visited the previous week, we turned off and followed a hiking path that led over a hill back to the village by the water.

The route had some steep sections, but the path was well maintained, albeit quite rocky.

To conclude, we strolled along the promenade by the beach and visited the small covered “market” with many souvenirs.

At the beach, we watched as pelicans flew closely over the heads of the bathers and hunted for fish in the water.

During our subsequent snorkeling, we also discovered why there were so many pelicans: The water was teeming with schools of fish.

In the afternoon, we relaxed or climbed back up the mast to look down on the ship and the sea.

Thus, we headed back to Barbados, where our cruise with the Royal Clipper came to an end.
