After celebrating Christmas Eve with family, we took the train to Frankfurt the next morning. To avoid missing our ICE, we deliberately took an earlier regional train and were pleasantly surprised by the rail service: all trains were on time, perhaps a Christmas gift from the company to travelers. Thus, we, who doubted the punctuality of the rail service, had to wait for half an hour on the cold platform before heading to Frankfurt - where we arrived without major delays (aside from ten minutes of waiting in the tunnel due to something being spotted outside the train).

Our hotel was located right by the train station, but in the evening, we ventured into the city center again.

The Christmas market was unfortunately already over, and the lights were somewhat sparser than we had hoped for.

After a short stroll past the town hall, Paulskirche, and Römer, we decided to return to the hotel due to the icy temperatures.
The Last Days of Pompeii - the Immersive Exhibition
The next morning, we planned to visit “The Last Days of Pompeii - the Immersive Exhibition” in Frankfurt.
The Last Days of Pompeii - the Immersive Exhibition
With information boards and a multimedia show, it narrates the eruption of Vesuvius and the downfall of Pompeii.

There were also two VR experiences: one could experience the eruption of the volcano in the arena of the site. During the second tour, you walked through one of the villas that stood in Pompeii using a VR headset.

After this excursion into the virtual Italy of antiquity, we headed back to the hotel and to the airport, from where we departed for Casablanca.
After landing, we saw many locals captivated by their phones - even some customs officers and other employees at the airport. We realized that the African Championship is currently taking place in Morocco, and that evening, many were following the game against Mali.
Later that evening in the hotel, we could still hear honking cars driving through the city, even though it had only resulted in a draw.
