These birds are waiting for tourists at one of the rest stops and begging for water or food. They come very close and sometimes take something that their owner doesn't hold onto tightly. They are also feared by drivers because they have been known to remove certain parts from parked cars with their beaks: antennas, side mirrors, hubcaps. No joke! Reality.

It was a wonderful experience with optimal weather. As soon as we returned, it started raining again.

I haven't felt this bad in a long time. The 120 km bus ride on a narrow and bumpy road has drained me. Then a two-hour boat ride in quite stormy weather (maybe just from the perspective of a landlubber). Now that we're back, the ground is still swaying. But still, it was fantastic! Words cannot describe what we saw today, you can only get a minimal sense of it through the photos. How wonderful that our daughters encouraged us to make this long journey. But see for yourselves.

Moin MOoin! Schöne Grüße auf die andere Seite! Diese Bilder sind ja wirklich traumhaft schön. Ich liebe die Mischung aus Bergen und Meer. Und dann noch so grün!

Ihr Lieben, was für ein Zufall. Diese Woche kam in einem Dritten (oder Arte?) eine Sendung über Milford Sound. Hauptthema waren die Folgen des letzten Erdbebens. Viele Küstenabschnitte haben sich einen Meter gehoben, es gab unzählige Erdrutsche und tiefe Spalten usw. Die Straßen (und Schienen) an der Küste entlang, die sie gezeigt haben, waren unpassierbar. Habt ihr das auch gesehen? Ich weiß nicht, wie alt der Film war. Viele Grüße Jürgen und Corinna

Das Erdbeben war glaube ich 2016. Es ist davon nur noch wenig zu sehen. In der Landschaft kaum, nur auf den Straßen gibt es hin und wieder noch Engstellen oder Baustellen. Der schlechte Zustand vieler Straßen ist sicher auch auf die Erdbeben zurückzuführen, denn sie werden dann zwar geflickt, aber eben nur das.
