Today we had a nice day. After breakfast, we started walking at 9 o'clock. We took some side streets in the town and went into the valley of the Erskine, a stream whose waterfalls we had already visited at the beginning of the week. Now we wanted to see the River Rapids, which are located in a narrow valley directly behind Lorne. As at many places here, a sign warned of snakes. It's a strange feeling when you walk through a quiet and lonely eucalyptus forest because these trees constantly shed their bark in long strips that twist. I'm already walking more cautiously through such a forest. But we haven't seen any snakes so far. By the way, no koalas and no kangaroos again today...
Yesterday we booked two more stops on our trip. We are going to a suburb of Melbourne on Sunday. From there, we will fly to Perth on Wednesday. We have already booked a hotel for the first five days there, including the weekend. But the plan is to look for accommodation from there where we want to stay until our return flight. In Perth, we have rented a car again. We organized this from Sydney with Darren's help.
We have been on the road for almost seven weeks now. We are slowly starting to look forward to going home! Looking forward to seeing our children, grandchildren, and friends again after such a long time!
