The first holidays in China started with a negative surprise: on the first day of the holidays we wanted to fly to Tokyo to explore the city for 2 days and then board our cruise ship in Yokohama. But it turned out differently. We received an email at 0:13 am (departure was planned for 11:30), stating that our flight was cancelled. For 24 hours we tried everything to get a replacement flight, which we eventually succeeded in doing, but the departure was now one day later than planned. Tokyo sightseeing was cancelled and we had to go directly to Yokohama to be on time at the port.
Finally, the vacation could begin.
After landing in Tokyo, we took a bus to Yokohama; once there, we strolled along the harbor. There were even large rays swimming in the harbor basin, really cool. We continued upwards: to the Landmark Tower to admire Yokohama from above. We went up to the Sky Garden and could already spot our ship from above. A visit to the Pokemon Store afterwards was a must.
We then set sail with the Diamond Princess from Yokohama; heading towards Korea. We had a great large interior cabin. The ship was really great. From the modern fitness room, to a great spa, multiple pools including an indoor pool, table tennis tables, fantastic bars and restaurants with great food, as well as a large entertainment program, everything was available and all wishes were fulfilled. We enjoyed 2 days at sea, explored the huge ship, played a lot of sports, and were pampered. All of this with high summer temperatures.
Korea/Butan: a modern city by the sea, no traffic chaos like in Beijing, but a colorful city with friendly people welcomed us. We were able to swim in great surf and eat delicious food and do some great shopping.
Japan/Nagasaki: a city that had to endure a heavy fate during World War II. It makes you thoughtful.....
We explored a beautiful port promenade and enjoyed ice cream and ice Heineken. Green and beautifully located by the sea.
Feedback: Princess Cruises can easily keep up with our other cruise lines like Aida or Mein Schiff. We would love to come back.
We will come back to Japan and Korea.
