05 to Budapest

Route: 86 kilometers, cumulative: 396 kilometers | Elevation gain: 350, cumulative elevation gain: 1,299 meters, distance from home: 833 kilometers (as the crow flies).

The hotel from last night was as promised. Everything was very good, including the included dinner. I only had to pay for the drinks.

I still don't need to be artificially fed. 🤣 The day before my departure, I had to go to the dentist because a piece of a right molar had broken off. The dentist then said that the 🦷 needed to be extracted. However, I did not want that, as I felt the risk of an infection and pain was too high. Therefore, she gave me medication in case something did happen.

And today, the time had come when a large piece of tooth actually broke off. It's not very bothersome, and I have no pain. So I will wait and see how it goes before I swallow any pills

After setting off, I quickly reached the Danube, which I then followed all the way to Budapest. On the 5th day of travel, the weather was sunny and warm again. The wind was present too, as it had been in the past few days. However, since I often changed direction, the wind did not always come from the front. Additionally, I frequently rode between trees that also blocked the wind.

Once again, I crossed the border into Hungary. But I will be staying in this country for several days before re-entering Slovakia. This will be on the way towards Feldberg.

Along the way, I received 2 calls from the rangers, as certain confirmations were coming to my phone. Both times it was a pleasant break. Speaking of breaks: Today, I didn't write a blog during lunch, I focused on eating, a spicy venison sausage that I got from Hildegard.

The entry into Budapest was similar to that of Warsaw. It was winding and the bike path wasn’t always easy to find. Eventually, I came to a bridge that led me to an island in the middle of the Danube. A huge recreational area between Buda and Pest.

My Airbnb for today is very central and also very comfortable. There’s even a washing machine that’s already running. The apartment is also very nice and clean overall. I can’t and don’t want to use everything that’s available.

Now I’m going to do some shopping nearby. I don't know what will come later.
