When leaving Dolphin Bay Hideaway, Uli had a bad sprain. Didn't pay attention while searching for the sloth. But the foot can still move and bear weight, and the journey isn't far anyway.
The boat takes us back to Isla Colon - the main island of Bocas del Toro. And of course, the dolphins say goodbye. Quickly wiped away a little tear, let's continue.
Bocas Town is not good. Too crowded, too noisy, too stupid. Unfortunately, the check-in and check-out times are stupidly far apart here. 10:30 AM and 3:00 PM. We had already asked if we could check in a little earlier, but the owner was surprised by our arrival at half past eleven. But we could leave our stuff there and then it was time to go to the sea.
To the real sea, real waves, real blue.
We are living here in a kind of treehouse, among the trees, hearing the strong surf and the howler monkeys living above us. But there are also a few dogs, roosters, and people living with us, so the night is not really made for sleep.
Uli has a cold, (fan + wet hair = stupid) Sascha is also exhausted, so the first day passes with a lot of breaks and a lot of staring at the sea.
On the last day, we start walking towards Bluff Beach. 8 km of radiant sand, wild surf, jungle almost reaching the water. It's not really suitable for swimming here, strong surf and constant signs warning of dangerous rip currents remind you that it's better to have a surfboard with you if you venture behind the waves. But you can splash around. Even with a cold. And drink beer in the sun too.
As we walk back, we spot a two-toed sloth and a three-toed sloth. And last but not least, the parrots also show up.
And the smell? Since the little tiger and the little bear have never been to Panama, the statement that Panama would smell like bananas from top to bottom was more of a guess. If they had been here, they would now know that Panama smells much better than bananas.
