We wanted to get to know this area that we've seen in Schimanski, the football games, and in some films, but still don't know.
So we stayed at Wasserfreunde Ruhrmühle. It is located south of the Ruhr in Bochum Dahlhausen.
The Ruhr area is like a caricature of itself. They speak like on TV! You see pumped up, tattooed citizens with a background of migraines, whom you better not look in the eye, because then, who knows.
Many colorful people, but, as Katja said, dressed differently, it somehow has an effect
Cycling, you see more. Besides, the Ruhr area is just one big traffic jam. But the drivers are good, unlike in Lower Saxony.
Also along the Ruhr.
From there onwards straight to the west and Duisburg.
On the other side of the Ruhr is Meiderich. Nowadays, a part of Duisburg and the 'M' in MSV Duisburg. By the way, Meidericher SV was one of the founding members of the Bundesliga.
Anyway, there is a landscape park of a former steelworks there. I'll spare you dozens of technical photos. But we were all the way up at the blast furnace. And the name says it all. About 100 meters. You can look around.
We wanted to go back by train. But nope, replacement service due to construction work.
