Since our wonderful accommodation is located directly across from Munkholmen, we can watch the arriving and departing Hurtigruten or Havilas ships each morning. We won't miss this highlight.

Today we are visiting the Vassfjellet Ski Center at the boundary of the municipality of Melhus.

The Vassfjellet is a mountain located at the border of the municipalities of Melhus and Trondheim in the county of Trøndelag, Norway. On its eastern side, you will find the ski area Vassfjellet Ski Center. The 710-meter-high mountain is located about 4 kilometers southeast of the village of Melhus. At the summit, there is a 220-meter high radio and television transmission tower. A road was built to the summit for maintenance purposes. This road starts in the village of Kvål in the municipality of Melhus, but it is closed to public vehicle traffic. However, it is excellent for hiking.

• Snow reliability: Vassfjellet is described as snow reliable and is one of the three most snow-reliable ski areas in central Norway.
• Snowmaking: The area has snow cannons and can artificially cover 25% of the slopes to ensure snow conditions.
• Family-friendly: The ski area is described as family-friendly and offers slopes for all skill levels.
• Lighting: A large part of the slopes is illuminated, and night skiing is also possible.

The Vassfjell Chapel is located on the northeast side of the mountain in the municipality of Trondheim.

In the early evening, we watch tough Norwegian women ice bathing right from the balcony.

We prefer to enjoy our lovely dinner in the warm living room.
