Today we are visiting the city of Alta, home to the renowned Northern Lights Cathedral, and driving along the Altaelva, through beautiful small villages and remote nature, always on the lookout for good fishing spots. At the Käfjordbrua, Annemarie and Kurt caught a gigantic fish, a massive char. The fish is enough for two dinners.

Alta is a city in the municipality of Alta in Finnmark, Norway. The city is the administrative center of the municipality and the main commercial center in the western part of the Finnmark province. It is located at the southern end of the Alta Fjord at the mouth of the Altaelva River. There are several suburbs around the city: Kåfjord, Kvenvik, and Jiepmaluokta are located in the west; Øvre Alta and Tverrelvdalen are in the south, and Rafsbotn is in the east. The famous rock carvings of Alta are located just west of the city.

Alta is considered the northernmost city in the world with over 10,000 inhabitants. The city spans an area of 9.81 square kilometers with a population of 15,931 (2023), resulting in a density of 1,624 residents per square kilometer.
