1-14 February 2023 Hurtigruten Coast 9 February

Published: 01.04.2023

This morning we get up early... we want to see Trondenes Church when we enter Harstad. The Evangelical Lutheran Church is located about three kilometers north of Harstad and is the northernmost medieval stone church in the world. The church was built between the 13th and 15th centuries, but the exact construction time is unknown. We continue towards Stokmarknes, the birthplace of Hurtigruten, where you can also visit the Hurtigruten Museum and see the ship Finnmarken. As darkness falls, we pass through the Raftsund, the waterway between the Lofoten Islands and the Vesterålen Islands. It is an incredible experience to sail so close to the beautiful coast, especially with this impressive evening atmosphere. Our captain also takes the ship to the entrance of the famous Trollfjord, which is beautiful. In winter, the Hurtigruten ship is not allowed to enter the fjord due to the risk of avalanches. In Svolvær, we have a longer stay and take the opportunity to observe the Northern Lights, and there they are, even if they are weak.
