Last day

In the morning we got up earlier to met up with the vet.

Today we were going to try to dart one of the cheetahs and put a gps collar on him.

So we started our search for them with the antenna driving through the big enclosure.

It took us quite a while to get a signal but then we finally had a direction towards the mountains. Here we parked our cars and went by foot following the signal.

We spotted them on a hill between the bushes and slowly started to make our way around. However the cheetahs didnt let us come very close, when we werre up on the hill they were already down the other side walking along the fence away from us.

So we all walked back to the cars and started to follow where they went. Up on another hill we walked around for a while until the signal moved away too far so we went back to the vehicels again.

We did manage to catch up to them, they were in a valley but since we've been chasing them for a while they were quite nervous so before we tried again they decided to try another day.

So we were driven back for lunch and in the afternoon started with our normal activities.

So we cleaned the elephant waterhole, their enclosure that seems to get worse everyday and prepared their food.

Then we went out to collect the cameras me and lea put out and feed some animals. Our last activity was throwing some leftovers away at the boneyard.

Then we drove back to our tents, here we met Sandra from Germany the new volunteer. After a shower we all had dinner together.

We talked for a bit as suddenly a car drove towards our tents. We saw it was chris and they had catched another springbok! We didnt hear the trap at all this time so we werent really ready especially not Sandra with her flip flops.

So held the springbok in place, it was another female, and drove to the other land. Sandra was a bit shocked I think.

We loaded it off and after getting it out of the net were able to let it free.

We drove back to our tents and talked about what just happend as suddenly a huge camel spider came out under the sofa and straight across the room under the cabinet.

Now Lea told sandra about all her spider stories.

So after this nice introduction for sandra we all made our way to bed.

Tomorrow we will give mariné her present and leave towards cape town.

He lieverd, nu dus definitief de laatste dag!
