We arrive at the Wai-o-Tapu Wonderland, a geothermal area with geysers and many thermal pools, lakes, and craters, around 9:00 am. We meet two nice Germans and explore the amazing area. After lunch and a nap in the shade, we continue driving around 4:00 pm to Te Kuiti, where we arrive around 6:30 pm. After shopping, we get a tip from locals in the parking lot: the Mangaokewa Gorge Scenic Reserve. We go there and find a wonderful camping spot by a larger creek, with a suspension bridge and a beautiful plant life: a wall of giant ferns and palm trees on the other side of the creek. There are also some locals with cars or campers besides us. We enjoy dinner by the creek.
