This morning we met again at 9 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church. First, we said our greetings and sang "Happy Birthday" to our birthday girl, Marlene, before the Mass began, which we musically accompanied together with the Coral das Meninas di Canarinhos de Petrópolis. We opened the service with "Locus iste." The girls' choir then took over for the next six pieces, before we accompanied the rest of the service with five more songs. We were delighted by the deeply religious atmosphere, as well as the programs, which recorded the order of the Eucharist verbatim and made it easy for us to follow along.
Afterwards, we had the rest of the day free, which we could spend individually with or without our families. Many used the time to explore Petrópolis. Several of us met up again at the Imperial Museum, the former summer residence of the Brazilian Emperor Pedro II (for whom the city is named). The cathedral and the city itself, with its many small shops, were also popular attractions.
We spent our last evening with the families relaxing and were excited about the change of location the next day.
