This morning we start a hike onto the plateau with our guide Franz.
Initially we wonder why we are not allowed to walk ourselves but that is quickly cleared up. To get to the 200-meter-high plateau, we have to climb more than hike and there are actually rhinoceroses up there! They were brought to the plateau for protection against poachers. Here they are left alone for about 50 kilometers in length.
We are rewarded with a beautiful view for our efforts.
We deliberately avoid the black rhinoceroses as they are much more aggressive compared to their counterparts, the white rhinoceroses.
Franz constantly tells us about animals and plants.
In the afternoon, we drive to the Wilderness Lodge, only 2 kilometers away, and suddenly find ourselves in a jungle under rubber trees and huge bamboo sticks, about 15 meters high. A completely different world!!
In the evening, we grill and cook our dinner over an open fire. Sadly, it is our last evening :(
