Tag 39: On the 40th day, he returned from the desert - Mogus 39th day in Asia

Woohoo, last day in Asia, who would have thought we would make it this far. It should be mentioned that we fought through heat and cold, dirt and insect storms. We have also survived crazy Asians as well as Indian road conditions, propeller planes, and various exotic (predatory) animals. In the end, we are glad to leave the continent and look forward to a new chapter of our journey.

Now, on our last day in Bali, which is already a pleasant transition to the Western world (which will receive us in the very eastern part of Australia), we try to cram in as much as possible.

First, I feel like I need documentation with recognizable value - preferably a photo - of my surfing progress. So we get up very early on this day and I give it my all in front of Gudi's camera lens - which unfortunately is not much. This does not surprise me, as I have never been an "exam beast". The empty camera battery does not really help with recording, so in the end, only a somewhat satisfying photo comes out.

Back at the hotel, we have to pack and check out, as Balinese people - unlike other Asian people - have no sense of flextime. Waiting for our specially hired tour guide can be somewhat bearable at the hotel pool.

As we have already revealed, for our last few hours (fortunately only the last few hours in Asia, considering the driving style and road conditions that await us next, the first choice of words is almost accurate) we have booked a tour. Through this tour, we want to give the overcrowded Balinese temples and cultural sites another chance. So we let ourselves be driven through the prairie for too much money and visit a temple unknown to me, which interests me so little even after its visit that its name does not stick in my gray cells. At sunset, we submit to the laws of tourism and visit the Tanah Lot water temple. It is quite nice to look at, but the disappearance of the yellow fireball in the ocean only reddens the surroundings, not our eyes. Maybe we are already too spoiled, but observing a natural spectacle does not bring us to tears anymore, especially when we are squeezed between - it feels like - half of Asia (which apparently has gathered again due to our farewell).

In the late evening, we make our way to the airport and have our last meal at one of the many street stalls. Based on how the food tastes, we almost assume that we have finally hit the jackpot - in other words, dealt the final blow to our intestines - with our last meal in Asia. Luckily, these fears turn out to be groundless, and now we look forward to the reddish shimmering future and the rest of the Australian continent.

Gudi's glorious laws

Always have something warm to wear on the plane!

Yes, Gudi has ideas that are very beneficial to me. I would never think of such a thing myself, but considering the extremely chilly planes, their insistence on a sweater in this case is more than sensible.
