Cairns + Wallabies

27.07.2024:

In the morning, I relaxed and had breakfast. The Filipino joined me and we had a nice conversation. He literally showered me with compliments and then asked me if I was gay. When I denied it, he said it was a pity because he was gay and would like to have something with me.
He took out his phone, opened a translation app, and showed me what he wanted to say: “In this rainy weather, I always get really horny, and therefore I would give you money to be able to suck your d*ck. Believe me, you won't regret it.”
When I read that, I had to start laughing, which made him even hornier.
Now I'm thinking about what to do with my additional €100 in my wallet😉 No joke, when he suddenly opened his pants and put his hand on his balls, it became too weird for me. So, I said goodbye and left.
That was a really funny yet also super weird morning.
In the afternoon, I booked a hostel in Cairns for 4 nights.
In the evening, the Australian roommate (Elan) and I got a few beers and drank them in the courtyard of the hostel. However, since I have to check out tomorrow at 10:00 AM, I went to sleep at midnight.

28.07.2024:

Got up at 8:00 AM to pack my luggage. Since I now had the 2 sweaters, my 3 t-shirts, and a football that I found, it really became tight in my backpack. After a while, I was finally able to close it. After I checked out, my Uber arrived on time and we headed to the airport. At the airport, I wasn't asked once for my passport, ID, or anything else. The flight was 3 hours and 10 minutes. Upon arriving in Cairns, I checked into the new hostel for the next 4 days. Right after that, I took a look around the city. I immediately noticed that this city speaks to me much more than Sydney. It’s not as crowded here, many streets are illuminated with colorful lights, there are many small parks, and it's just much quieter here. After I returned to the hostel, I met my 2 roommates. A girl from South Korea and a guy from Denmark named Michael. The girl is only staying for this night and is very shy. Michael is going to stay here for my entire stay.

29.07.2024:

Today, I laid on the small beach section from morning until afternoon and started reading a book. I bought the book at the airport, and it’s in English. Unfortunately, many words are unfamiliar to me, so reading is quite tiring. In the early evening, Michael and I were in the hotel room, and he asked me if I wanted to eat with him and 2 girls he met.
One girl is named Aileen, she is 29 years old and comes from Gladbach. I didn’t catch the name of the other girl, but she is from the Czech Republic.
We all got along well, after eating burgers, we went for drinks at a bar by the harbor and chilled together until 3 AM. During the evening, we talked about what we could do in the next days and planned a little one-day trip for tomorrow.

30.07.2024:

Michael and I got up at 8:00 AM (so only 5 hours of sleep), got ready, and rented a car for the day. It was a small white KIA that wasn't particularly comfortable. Once we had the car, we picked up Aileen and then 2 guys that Aileen somehow knew. With 5 of us in the car, it was quite tight, but fortunately, I sat in the passenger seat, which was premium. We drove 1.5 hours to Davies Creek National Park to see a waterfall. This waterfall was incredible. It was one of the largest waterfalls I’ve ever seen. We climbed to the very top and chilled there while enjoying the outstanding view. The water was cold, but we went in with our feet.
After this great experience, we headed to a suburb there and had something to eat. The plan was to drive a bit further to visit another national park. Since Michael shouldn’t drive the whole time, I said I would drive from now on. A bit nervous, I got into the driver's seat since I had never driven on the left side before. After a few times turning on the windshield wipers instead of the turn signal (because that’s the opposite way), everything went quite well. When we arrived in Chewko, we were greeted by many wallabies (small kangaroos), which was just great. It was the first time I touched a kangaroo, and they were all really tame, let us pet them, and were super cute. We even saw some wallaby mothers showing us their little joeys in their pouches <3 There, I would have loved to lay down and cuddle with each one for a few hours.
Because we had little sleep, there was nothing else to do in the evening but chill at the hostel.
