12.01.2025 – 03.02.2025

On 14.01.25, I cut down my first Gumtree completely by myself. The total weight of the tree was 29 tons. It was relatively exciting for me, as we only made one cut to fell this tree. Therefore, all ropes had to be positioned 100% correctly so that the tree doesn’t fall in the wrong direction.
On 15.01.2025, I moved into a room in the district of Bulimba. I shared the apartment with 2 Colombian roommates and 3 dogs. Bulimba is a very nice district, but the dogs annoyed me quite a bit. So, I left the apartment after a week and have since been in an apartment in Carindale, which is a bit closer to work.
I canceled the road trip because I would prefer to save a little more money, and because the road from Brisbane to Cairns has been completely flooded for a few weeks, making it impossible to see all the beautiful places along the way.
On 26.01, Lina and I went camping in Noosa. The drive there actually only takes one and a half hours, but since Lina’s car currently has many problems and overheats very quickly, we had to stop every 10 minutes and wait for 20 minutes… Noosa is beautiful. We cuddled with kangaroos, saw black snakes, and were woken up at night by large monitor lizards. The sunrise and sunset there are magnificent, and I definitely want to go back and camp there again.
When we drove back to Brisbane from Noosa, we stopped at many beaches on the Sunshine Coast and jumped into the water everywhere for a bit. For the sunset, we chose a lookout point called “Wild Horse Mountain Lookout,” and the view from there was stunning.
On 01.02.2025, I was with a few Germans on Stradbroke Island. There, we saw dolphins, sharks, and koalas. My highlight (which I unfortunately do not have a photo of) was a koala mother crossing the street with her sweet little baby on her back.
