Day 9: Elephants

Today we had to get up very early because visiting an elephant camp was on the agenda. We quickly had scrambled eggs with toast from our host mother and then spent 2 hours in the minivan heading towards the pachyderms. The drive alone was very beautiful, seeing the whole surroundings of Chiang Mai, away from the tourist paths.

After we arrived, we all put on colorful vests so that the elephants wouldn't get confused and think that the same people come every day. Everyone got a bag with bananas and pumpkins to feed the elephants. It was a really beautiful experience to get so close to these 3-4 ton animals. By the way, an elephant eats 250 kg per day and only sleeps for 4 hours. How do they do that?!?

Feeling completely happy, we drove back to Chiang Mai. To end the day in a relaxed way, we treated ourselves to our first Thai massage in the evening. The only small fun fact about this massage was that the masseuse's name was Mrs. Porn. But don't worry, she was completely professional.
