Thanks to going to bed early, we were up early too. So we went for a morning walk before 7 o'clock. Christchurch has a huge park with a beautiful botanical garden, perfect for a morning walk. The weather surprised us again today, according to the weather forecast it was supposed to rain, but the sun is shining wonderfully, although it's quite chilly, feels like below 10 degrees. After breakfast at a nice cafe, we were able to pick up our camper. Once again, we were greeted very warmly. Our home for the next three weeks is over 7 meters long and 3.5 meters high. Huge, but that's how we rented it. Now we're off, Patrick maneuvers exemplary and we head south towards Peninsula Banks, a peninsula. Past sheep farms, in lush green landscapes and already with small challenges, a small pass. But we have the feeling that Patrick is handling it better than other tourists with cars. The view of the bay with the town of Akaroa is picturesque. In the French-influenced harbor town, we stroll around and when the rain finally starts, we head back towards Christchurch to stock up on supplies. Since we're shopping so much, we get two free coffees, which we enjoy with something sweet as our first meal in our new home. With the app Campermate, we have selected a camping site north of Christchurch, on the beach, where it's around 10 degrees and a bit of sunshine. We even have a built-in grill, but when Patrick wants to start it, it starts raining heavily, there's even a bit of hail. So we have a delicious spaghetti bolognese and toast to our vacation with New Zealand wine.
