We wake up after a rainy night and... it's still raining heavily, the wind is so strong that the fjord is producing big waves. We think about our camper duo. Jann and Lovis took the ferry from Moskenes to Bodø this morning at 7 o'clock (ferry time 3.5 hrs.), in this weather... Cheers, we don't want to switch places with them at all and hope they arrived safely. We take a nice warm shower and have breakfast in the camping kitchen with a view of the fjord. The rain continues pouring, everything is gray and the mountains are barely visible. What to do in this weather... stay and write, or move on...?!
We decide to hit the road again, the weather forecast for the next days is more than poor! So we slowly make our way back up. We take routes that we didn't drive on the way here and try to see something through the fully rain-soaked windows. The wipers are working at full speed and squeaking loudly! We make a short stop at a small church on the beach and take advantage of the 15 min dry spell to let the dog run and collect some shells and corals. Then... rain and stormy wind, let's go...!
We want to go to Svolvær again, buy new wipers and stroll around the shopping center, at least it's dry there. The weather keeps getting worse on the way, if that's even possible. To get to Svolvær, we have to cross a relatively "large" bridge, so we stop before because we're not really sure if we should cross... the wind is blowing at 26 m/s... mmhhhhh.... either now, or not at all for now since the sky is getting even darker. We manage to cross the bridge safely and are surprised that a truck is coming towards us and heading straight for the bridge. Another truck stops in the parking lot in front of the bridge. He's not really going to drive over it... then he hits the brakes and probably reads the wind warning... and... he still continues, at a snail's pace... he made it, hats off! He was probably heavily loaded...! They drive like madmen here, both buses and trucks... they can do it!
The journey continues rapidly and Jörni has to keep the bus on track every now and then, that's what we call weather!
Even our Börter-Dirk would talk about rain here...!
We arrive in Svolvær, buy a new wiper blade (which is still not on the bus today because it doesn't fit quite as it should and Jörn is still tinkering) and wander around the shopping center like homeless kids. For the first time, we buy wine for Jörni at the alcohol shop, 2 liters for a measly 260 NOK! But we have to take a beer break at some point...
It's still raining outside... we check into a nice campsite and take a short walk with the dog... well, Jörni does... he swims... but the dog doesn't really feel like it... water is great, but not from above. We take our observation positions, have a beer (we bought some), stare out the window, and count 14 waterfalls that we can see from our position. Not bad... lots of rain = lots of waterfalls, at least. Later, we cook in the really cozy camping kitchen and listen to Norwegian radio. Outside... well, what do you think... RAIN!
