Day 20 - Zion National Park

Published: 16.09.2016

After the relaxing days in Las Vegas, we are setting off today to explore the many attractions of America. Our 2.5-hour drive through the desert takes us through 3 states of the USA, Nevada, Arizona and Utah. The destination of our journey today is Zion National Park in Utah.

The national park covers an area of 579 square kilometers and is located between 1128 m (Coalpits Wash) and 2660 m (Horse Ranch Mountain). Zion is an ancient Hebrew word meaning sanctuary or sanctuary, which was often used by Mormon settlers in Utah. Within the park is a canyon-rich landscape with numerous canyons, the Zion Canyon and the Kolob Canyon being the most famous.

Here are some impressions from the national park that we captured on our hikes.

After a sunny day in the national park (we have only had sunshine and warm temperatures on our trip so far), we set off in search of our accommodation for tonight. After having stayed in great hotels so far, we wanted to treat ourselves to something very special today. And so we are currently sitting on a cozy veranda in Glendale Utah, a small village with just under 400 inhabitants in the middle of nowhere. And this is our room for today...

The charming house is located in the garden of the lovely Ron, who runs a very rustic B&B here together with his Golden Retriever dog, Cona. We heard about this accommodation on TripAdvisor and it was highly recommended by many previous visitors. And we can only confirm this. Everything is prepared with great love and Ron takes good care of his guests.

We are now enjoying a quiet evening on the lonely veranda, listening to the crickets and watching the many hummingbirds that are buzzing around here in the sunset...
