Cathedral Grove - Duncan - Victoria

Published: 28.07.2018

Today's destination: Victoria! That means we had about 4 hours of driving ahead of us for the 280 km. We took route #4 back across the country. Shortly after Alberni 😝, we stopped at Cathedral Grove in MacMillan Provincial Park, took a walk and admired the trees, some of which were 800 years old and looked huge.

We then continued driving south, passing Nanaimo, until we reached Duncan, the Totem City. After a small lunch, we walked a part of the 'Totem Trails'. Thanks to a marked line with yellow feet, you can admire 80 beautifully carved totems.

Then we drove the remaining 50 km and stopped about 10 km before downtown Victoria at Fort Victoria RV Park. At the campground, we had everything we needed: water and electricity at the site, as well as the opportunity to do laundry. I took advantage of that and did a load of laundry. 😊

In the evening, we could sit outside comfortably at 25C and enjoy our steak. The past few days on the west coast have been rather cool. So we really appreciate the warmth again, although not as hot as in Switzerland. But we also had 32C during the day.

By the way, Berni is feeling much better already. Only a stubborn cough remains and he is still a bit weak. We continue to take turns driving. I gladly let Berni take the lead when parking in reverse... 😊 After all, someone 'skilled' needs to guide him! 😂

Curious Incidents:

• Jill got into the wrong motorhome at the campground in Banff National Park after taking a shower. The friendly neighbors, who were just having breakfast, greeted her with a kind "Good Morning!" 😜

• In Revelstoke, Lisa couldn't remember where the washrooms were in the dark... 😂

• Why do only pretty women with the "Slow" sign monitor the traffic at road construction sites and never men 😳? The men operate the construction machines... 😏

• Canadians always have a fire burning at their campsite, which burns for almost 24 hours.

• Trains that pass through a city always honk. Tuuut tuuut…
