After a delightful sleep-in and pancake pampering, I feel restless. Just sitting at home this Sunday? NO WAY! But what is the alternative?
Of course, on such a dreary Sunday, the Transport Museum attracts me. An ideal half-day program. So, I grab my backpack and camera, and off I go.
Funny enough, it's the MS Schwyz that awaits me again. On the short ride, I catch sight of the Rigi. It was shrouded in clouds and snow yesterday, but now it greets me invitingly. Who could resist that? So, I quickly decide to change my plans. I stay seated among Indians and Chinese, and off to the Rigi.
In Vitznau, it pays off that, as a local, I know where to stand. This way, I enjoy a nice seat on the right side of the train.
Before long, we reach Rigi Kulm. It is already 3 PM, so I head straight to the transmission tower at the summit. I follow the Myth of Rigi Trail, which has exciting facts about Rigi on five steles.
After the obligatory photo stop at the summit, I am drawn to the bistro. After yesterday’s delightful picnic by Lake Lucerne, today a beer and a portion of fries will do.
I decide to take a round trip, and at 4:15 PM, I board the train to Arth-Goldau. From there, I take the SBB train to Lucerne and then a bus back home.
