San Pedro de Atacama (Part 1)

April 20-23, 2026

We took a bus from Santiago around noon on April 19, which arrived in Calama in the north the next day around 10 AM. The bus ride was very comfortable, and we were able to sleep well. Afterwards, we took another bus for two more hours to San Pedro de Atacama, a small town in the Atacama Desert in northern Chile at about 2000 meters above sea level. From here, we explored the area, and we were amazed by how beautiful and diverse this region is! That's why there will be a second part...

April 20: Arrival, exploring the town, bike tour around the area

April 21: Planning day

April 22: by car: Laguna Cejar (salt lagoon, you can float on the water), Valle de la Luna (surreal moon landscape), stargazing at night

April 23: by car: leaving at 6 AM to the El Tatio geysers, flamingo lagoon, hot springs in the gorge (Puripobre), cactus valley)
