At Mardié, the Canal d'Orléans leaves the Loire, and we are also leaving the Loire Valley. Our destination today is Cepoy.
The Canal d'Orléans was put into operation in 1693. It creates a waterway from the Loire through the Canal du Loing to the Seine and thus to Paris.
The waterways at Cepoy are a bit tangled. The Canal d'Orléans meets the Canal de Briare at Buges. Northward, both continue as branches of the Canal du Loing. The Solin river meets the Loing river.
