While we have breakfast at the hotel, the laundry next door is spinning in the machine and then in the dryer: no desire for hand washing. And besides, dust and mildew need to be...

We had parked the bikes in the fitness room as instructed by the reception, which was subsequently locked. When we returned to the hotel after dinner the night before departure, the room was open and the bikes were gone.

There was a very funny dialogue at the reception:
Staff: 'The bikes are in the sauna.'
Me: 'What? Together?' and I started grinning.
The staff could barely get a word out for laughing: 'Oh! Not in the sauna, in the room in front of the sauna!'
This morning we freed the two bikes from the sauna area and headed to Metz. We expect a light headwind, but with practically no elevation, we are quite relaxed and ready.

The situation regarding food is developing much more dramatically. There are no Pain aux Raisin in this region. Our secret study comes to a sudden end. Pain aux Chocolat in various shapes and forms, but nothing with raisins. Once, a brioche had to suffice. It worked for me, but not for Maria.

There are several memorial sites in the area that commemorate World War II. There will be a separate blog for the memorial site of the battle of Dornot-Corny, which will be published after our return.
