#Tag3: Temples

Published: 13.01.2018

As planned, I visited some temples today. After a few hours, I gave up due to jet lag and took a nap. But what I saw was simply beautiful.

I started my tour with a water taxi, which took me to the other side of the Mae Nam Chao Phraya. That alone was a great experience.

On the other side of the river, I visited Wat Arun and was impressed by its craftsmanship.

I then took the water taxi back to the other side and went straight to Wat Pho. This temple complex, with its many buildings and Buddha statues, was very impressive. One of the buildings also houses the largest reclining Buddha in Thailand. I also appreciated the complimentary bottle of water given upon entry, which was very useful in the midday heat.

After passing by about 500 Buddha statues, the next stop was Wat Phra Kaew & Grand Palace. A little annoyed by the admission fee charged there and almost turning back, I overcame my pride and paid the 500B that was required. Just like before, I was overwhelmed by the mosaic-like beautifully decorated buildings here. But honestly, it's not worth 500B 😑

Feeling exhausted from these impressions, the midday heat, and jet lag, I took the water taxi back to the starting point and treated myself to a luxurious meal by the riverside, by Thai standards, before going to bed. Tomorrow, I will continue with the sights 😊
