The cat saved the burger...

A small milestone in our journey was definitely the visit to TSMC. Probably one of those places where you don't really know how important it actually is beforehand. TSMC is one of the largest chip manufacturers in the world and produces the small parts without which nothing seems to work today. Mobile phones, laptops, cars, probably even some toaster. Everything somehow depends on it.

Of course, we wanted to check out the museum as well. And yes... our expectations might have been a little too high.

We had somehow hoped to see actual production facilities or at least get a close look at a real chip. Instead, the museum mainly consisted of a tour with large screens and a lot of information on them. Very modernly done, but we stood there from time to time wondering where the really cool stuff was...

No real production machines, no exciting factory atmosphere, no small high-tech moment that we had somehow envisioned.

Still, it was fascinating to see how huge this company really is and how much the entire tech world depends on it.

Before heading back to Taipei, we spent another night in Taichung. And back in Taipei, it became pretty clear that we would check in again at the Kimpton Da An Hotel. The hotel had simply blown us away during our first stay.

The gym there is quite small, but just big enough that I don't miss a few workout sessions and feel briefly motivated before it's time to eat again.

One thing we noticed in Taiwan in general: The people there are completely crazy about cats and love these little fur balls more than anything else. And this brings us to the real highlight. The breakfast.

We often had it delivered to our room, and honestly, I could have easily started every morning with it.

We also noticed this in a restaurant where the burgers honestly looked significantly better than they tasted. The real attraction there was in the end the cat that leisurely wandered through the restaurant and impressed us more than the food did.
