Hello guys,
today was a great day.
As mentioned yesterday, we went on a hike to Mount Taranaki.
Since we camped right at the starting point of the shuttle bus that took us to the beginning of the trail, we were able to see how the mountain and the weather looked like right after waking up in the morning.
It was amazing! A cloudless sky with bright sunshine. We have been waiting for this view for almost 4 days.
So we took the first shuttle of the day and started our hike.
Compared to other hikes we have done here in New Zealand, I have to say that I didn't find the trail incredibly strenuous. Within about 2 hours, we climbed 600 meters in elevation to the volcano. And then it finally happened. We had a breathtaking view of the mountain. The volcano, which is usually hidden in the clouds, revealed itself in all its glory for us.
We managed to take some great pictures and enjoyed our luck during a little picnic.
Although we couldn't get enough of the view, we eventually started our way back to the car, and after a total of 5 hours of hiking, we could proudly say that we conquered the track.
A truly incredible experience!
Afterwards, we drove for about 2 hours until we reached Whanganui. Here, we did some grocery shopping and then went to a campground.
Apart from that, I want to tell you about a nice experience I had yesterday evening when I surprised my dear Grandma Petra with a birthday call. It was really nice to chat with her again, and you could really see her joy from my call, which was really lovely. She also promised me some Rouladen when I come back, so it was a perfect phone call all around.
Now Pascal and I are both in bed and are pretty exhausted from the hike.
Greetings from Whanganui, New Zealand!🇳🇿
Your Tim!😊
