Hi guys,
it's been 3 days since I last checked in here.
Contrary to our original plan, on Wednesday we decided not to go to the 'Gold Coast' as planned, but instead spend a day in the national park surrounding our campsite.
Basically, you can imagine the national park as a green rainforest.
First, we discovered a waterfall that flowed into a cave. It was absolutely magical that we could go into the cave. Then we went to the self-proclaimed 'Best of all Lookout', where we were both speechless. From a height of about 1200m, we could see the entire valley, the national park, distant mountains, the city of 'Gold Coast', and our destination for tomorrow, 'Byron Bay'.
It was super beautiful, but unfortunately the smoke from the surrounding fires obscured our view a bit. Even though they are still far away, the smoke from the fires is spreading across Australia, it's shocking!
Nevertheless, we were still able to enjoy the view and soon drove back down to the coast.
Here we spent the last two nights at a campsite that strongly resembles a German highway rest area, and spent the day in 'Byron Bay'.
We really like it here!
With backpackers from all over the world, an unusually large 'hippie scene', nice restaurants, and trendy cafes, we quickly spent the last two days here. Whether strolling through the streets of the city or sunbathing by the sea, time flew by on both days!
Tomorrow we will go to 'Cape Byron', the easternmost point of Australia, where we will visit the city's famous lighthouse and combine it with a little hike.
By the way, for those who are interested, we plan to spend Christmas in 'Gold Coast', but there are no specific plans yet, we will take care of it in the near future, because even though it doesn't feel like it here, Christmas is almost here!
Greetings from Ocean Shores, Australia!🇦🇺
Your Tim!😊
