I just can't help it: By the end of March 2026, I am already back on an island, specifically on Koh Samed, which remains unspoiled by mass tourism.

I didn't know that. When I was last in Thailand 45 years ago, you would have been imprisoned for that.
And the Thai police weren't joking!
Another thing that has changed: Back then, every public bus had 3 heavily armed soldiers on board (it was a military dictatorship at the time), which prompted me to leave Thailand immediately the next day. Just 3 days ago, I walked past 10 heavily armed police officers at Frankfurt Airport.
Times are changing. 🤡
