Day 52 - Uluru / Ayers Rock

Published: 06.08.2022

Still no sun, so no point for heading to the sunrise areas, but with at least for the morning some blue sky visible we decided it is time for the Uluru base walk.

We drove directly to the Mala car park. Due too the heavy winds coming from the Mala Walk we decided to do the walk in the opposite direction. Along the walk you have some signs to where not to take photos and an explanation why as well as some aboriginal stories about Uluru and the past.

First small detour of the base walk leads to the Mutitjulu Waterhole. Very little water so no emus as there were in earlier times. Shortly before we arrived back at the car park, there is the second little detour with the Mala Walk to Kantju Gorge. The Gorge has some more water and is a very peaceful and silent place to sit for a moment.

After we had finished the walk, the wind was getting less, but still no sun for sunset viewing but instead a view drops of rain...
