Day 172 Ikara Flinders Range part 3

Another day exploring the Ikara Flinders Range started with lots of Emus roaming around next to the street. We even saw one Emu with 8 chicken and another Emu with 10 chicken on their way looking for food. The actually first stop for the day was the Stokes Hill Lookout. You have a 360 degree view on the Flinders Range and a model shows, that the Flinders Range are actually almost a circle of mountains (but no meteorite crater).

On the drive to our next stop, we had an Emu walking across but also just on the street next to us before finally walking away from the street. There are not many if any dead Emus next to the street in contrast to the kangaroos, but we thought that this Emu was not behaving as street-wise as other Emus. Our next stop was the Great Wall of China. Well, one can guess why it got its name, but for us it did not really look like the Great Wall of China.

To have a look at some Aboriginal Art, we drove the detour to and through the Chambers Gorge until the car access is restricted and you have to walk the remaining couple of hundred metres. The good thing is, that there were many wildflowers still blossoming and we saw a wildflower we haven´t seen since weeks: the Sturt Pea.

The bad thing about this Chambers Gorge Walk is, that there is no marked trail, so you just wander around the gorge to find the Aboriginal Art. By walking around you need to be careful where you walk as there were many, many very low built spider nets with lots of big spiders around.  Despite the spiders there were still many flies around your head as well. We were quite happy when we finally found the Aboriginal Art and were able to get back to our car without any spiders in our face or on us.

Our next drive took us to the old town of Blinman. Unfortunately the cafe was not open and the hotel was just a pub without any cake or whatsoever for tea time.

From Blinman we chose to drive via the Parachilna Gorge and the Moralana Scenic Drive back to Hawker. Well, the views from the drive were great, but nothing new after the last days of scenic drives. Stuart anyway enjoyed watching all the Emus walking around.
