Travel day little River - Dunedin

Today, there wasn't much to see as it was very foggy along the coast. The first section of the road through Canterbury strongly resembles Lower Saxony, flat with a field or pasture on either side. Only the approximately 8-meter-high, massive hedges provide a bit of variety to the landscape.

Our first stop was at the Oamaru blue eye Penguin colony. Here you can watch breeding penguins. The hunting parents only return at dusk. There are also always some seals lying around, some of which you can get within arm's length of.

Also in Oamaru: Steampunk HQ and 3 or 4 other shops with a Steampunk theme or Victorian era. All can be found in the area of the old harbor.

Afterward, we had a small snack at the cafe near the Moeraki boulders before heading to the beach. Fortunately, the fog cleared up a bit. The boulders are spread out across the beach and attract many tourists.

After a short drive, we reached a really beautiful viewpoint at Shag Point. There were a lot of seals and nice waves, as far as one could see through the fog.

In Dunedin, traffic is a bit of a challenge. After some confusion, we parked at the train station and looked for something to eat. After a pizza, we headed to our accommodation at Larnach Castle. The garden is really impressive and has an interesting flair in the fog. Tomorrow, we'll probably take some pictures of it.
