Hello there, I'm back from sunny Madeira. Today, I've been exploring the whole day and covered the west side of the island! We started our big adventure tour in a minibus at 8:30 am. The driver managed slopes up to 30%. If you're not a fan of steep roads, you'll definitely reach your limits here! :)
One of our first stops was Cabo Girão - a viewpoint at Europe's highest cliff (worldwide ranking 2nd!). Of course, the viewpoint had a glass bottom. It was truly amazing to gaze 580 meters down into the depths! Then, we continued to Ribeira Brava, Encumeade, Sao Vicente, and finally Porto Moniz. We rounded off the day with a visit to a banana plantation!
I'll write more tomorrow - I'm hungry now and on the search for some dinner! :) Best regards, Your Lizard King.
Oh, one more thing: for dinner, I went to 'A malga' (https://www.tripadvisor.de/Restaurant_Review-g189167-d8415540-Reviews-A_Malga-Funchal_Madeira_Madeira_Islands.html)
For dinner, I had a typical Portuguese smoked sausage called 'Alheira de Mirandela'. Originally, this dish was created by Jews as part of an elaborate plan to deceive the Portuguese Inquisition, pretending to be Christians.
And, they were serving Mojitos for just 3 €! :D
