Vamps at the beach 🌊

The last 6 days in Varadero were truly very relaxing ☺️

We were super lucky with the weather. Except for one cloudy day, we had plenty of sunshine 🔆

Our days usually looked the same:

First, we had a coffee on the pirate ship (see photo), then we went straight to the beach 🏖️ where we “indulged” in two sun loungers for 500 Pesos (equivalent to about €1.70) 😄 and chilled there all day 😎

The view was simply breathtaking - turquoise water and white sandy beach 😍

The only significant downside in Varadero is that you actually have trouble purchasing water. Everything else is available - from soft drinks to beer & cocktails to Red Bull 😄 but for plain still water, we wandered from café to café or shop on the day we arrived and finally found a souvenir shop after 20 minutes that had a few bottles of water in the fridge.

There are actually no proper supermarkets here either! And when there are, they don't have water, but they have 100 bottles of Havana Club rum on the shelf 😵‍💫🥃 really crazy.. but on the other days, we got smarter and always bought a few bottles in reserve at the beach bars 💦

We have already said goodbye to the thought of getting sparkling water somewhere in the next few weeks 😄

What is also super important & from which we definitely learned: you absolutely need enough cash for Cuba! The ATM situation is catastrophic. Either the ATMs are empty or there is a line of people so long that you can't even get near the ATM in under an hour 💸

We were lucky that yesterday on the drive back to Havana, a Spanish couple was in the shared taxi and gave us €50, so that we at least had money for the taxi to the airport (and of course until we can withdraw money again in Miami)

All's well that ends well 😄

Today we are flying from Havana with a stop in Miami to Montego Bay 🇯🇲

We hope for more water here, better Wi-Fi, and equally lovely people as in Cuba - that's what really defines this country! The kindness & hospitality of the Cubans is amazing ☺️
