Today, we explore Zadar on the Dalmatian coast with its beautiful old town on a walk.
To escape the heat, we are taking the cruise line's shuttle bus into the city shortly after 8 AM. The stop is located close to the Sea Organ and is perfect for a stroll along the promenade and back through the old town.
We start at the 'Greeting to the Sun'.
This is an art installation by architect Nikola Bašić, who also designed the adjacent Sea Organ.
During the day, the solar panels store energy and provide a light show at night.

Right next to it is the 'Sea Organ'.
This is an experimental musical instrument whose sounds are generated by the wave motion beneath large stone slabs.

Further along the promenade, there is a jetty with a small old lighthouse. From here, one has a beautiful view of the coast.

The University of Zadar is also right on the promenade.

The statue of Špiro Brusina, a famous Croatian naturalist.

At the end of the extended promenade, there is also a direct view of the city wall.

We step back a few paces and turn at the University of Zadar toward the old town.

Here in the old town, there are also numerous shops, bars, and restaurants. New and then again old.

Church of Our Lady of HealthTo conclude, we enjoy some tranquility in the small sculpture park before heading back to the ship with the shuttle.
