Ravenna on Your Own
Excursion booked through TUI Cruises.
Ravenna gave me quite a headache on this trip. I had never been there before and had to plan an excursion that could accommodate a person with limited mobility.
I gathered information across the internet in advance. The cruise port is under construction. Public transport does not run regularly, and standing in the heat for prolonged periods is also unfavorable. Taxi drivers have not yet recognized cruise tourists on their radar.
Therefore, we decided on the TUI Cruises - My Ship excursion 'Ravenna on Your Own'. Bus ride to the city, 3 hours stay, and return to the ship.
The meeting point was at 07:45 at the provisional cruise terminal, a large tent. From there, we went directly in groups to the bus.
What I did not expect on this excursion was a tour guide. She first provided us with her phone number for any emergencies and then with information about the city during the approximately 30-minute ride. A city map, as well as informational material, was distributed. She also accompanied those interested to the ticket shop for entry tickets on site.
The bus parking lot is very central and after just a few steps, you are right in the old town.
You now have 3 hours at your disposal. Everyone can explore the city at their own pace and interest.
We visit a few highlights. We limit ourselves to the exterior views of the paid museums, churches, etc. Next time, we might visit some of them more intensively.
We use the time for a break at Café Belli. Cappuccino was available for €1.60, the can of cola for €3.50.
After 3 hours, it was time to return to the ship. Those who wanted could go directly to the beach from there. For us, perhaps next time.
